An IE8 exploit was found by a hacker after Microsoft sponsored a contest asking professional and amateur security experts to find a vulnerability in the company’s new browser in both the beta and final versions.
While Microsoft confirmed the existence of the exploit, which was reportedly found by a hacker who goes by Nils, but offered no details about the potential web security breach.
One security researcher told SCMagazineus.com that it was a “single-click-and-you’re-owned exploit,” which meant if users clicked on a malicious link in a spam email or visited a certain website, their computer would be compromised.

Great read on how little IE has progressed security wise.
